Mallorca, the largest island in the Balearic archipelago, is a sun-soaked paradise nestled in the heart of the Mediterranean. With its stunning coastlines, historic villages, world-class cuisine, and scenic mountain drives, it’s the perfect destination for a honeymoon that blends relaxation and adventure.

In this travel diary, we’ll take you through a week-long road trip exploring Mallorca’s most charming regions—complete with boutique hotels, hidden beaches, and unforgettable views.

📍 Day 1: Arrival in Palma & Exploring the Old Town

Arrival in Palma & Exploring the Old Town

We began our romantic escape in Palma de Mallorca, the capital city. For the first part of our trip, we stayed at a boutique hotel nestled in the historic quarter of Old Town. The building itself was once a 12th-century Muslim palace, and you could feel the history in every arch and stone.

Our room was cozy yet elegant, with modern amenities, Pido bath products, a rainfall shower, and windows that opened to charming alley views. After checking in, we strolled around the neighborhood’s cobblestone streets and stopped for dinner at the highly recommended El Camino. If you go, make a reservation in advance—or arrive just before opening to grab a bar seat like we did. The food was incredible—the perfect way to kick off the trip.

📍 Day 2: Valldemossa & Port de Sóller

Valldemossa

The next day we explored Valldemossa, a picturesque mountain village surrounded by olive groves and rolling hills. Tip: arrive early! It gets crowded and navigating the narrow streets by car can be tricky.

Later, we drove to Port de Sóller, a beautiful seaside town where we wandered the promenade and then drove up to a nearby residential hillside viewpoint. The panoramic views of the harbor below were breathtaking—truly one of the highlights of our trip.

Driving around Mallorca is relatively easy, though be prepared for lots of roundabouts and some winding mountain roads.

📍 Day 3: Sa Calobra Viewpoint & Coastal Roads

We hit the road again and tackled one of the most scenic drives on the island—the Sa Calobra loop, famous for its dramatic switchbacks and stunning vistas. Along the way, we stopped at a viewpoint (accessible via a short but rocky trail). The views were nothing short of jaw-dropping.

After a long day of road tripping, we enjoyed a relaxing dinner back at our hotel. Fun fact: it was my first time trying broccoli—and now I’m hooked!

📍 Day 4: Valldemossa Revisited & Cafés in Deià

We returned to Valldemossa early to beat the crowds and explore more of the village on foot. One of our favorite stops was a charming café where we scored a window seat—perfect for sipping coffee while watching the town come alive.

That night, we dined near our hotel again, indulging in Mallorca’s famously fresh seafood: grilled octopus, garlic shrimp, calamari—everything was chef’s kiss.

📍 Day 5: Sanctuary Stay in Serra de Tramuntana

For the next leg of our journey, we checked into a hotel in the Serra de Tramuntana, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its lavender fields and olive groves. The room smelled like heaven thanks to the natural lavender all around. We spent a full day just enjoying the property: lounging by the pool, cycling the grounds, and dining at Singular, the on-site restaurant run by Michelin-starred chef Ramón.

Every dish was a masterpiece, and this peaceful escape was the perfect romantic interlude in our otherwise packed itinerary.

📍 Day 6: Sunset in the Mountains & Boutique Shopping

After exploring the nearby villages and shops, we headed up to the mountains for one of the most romantic sunsets we’ve ever seen. Watching the sun dip below the horizon while surrounded by the scent of pine and lavender? Unreal.

📍 Day 7: Southern Mallorca & Secret Beaches

 Southern Mallorca

For the final part of our Mallorca honeymoon, we stayed in the southeastern region, checking into a boutique hotel housed in a 17th-century mansion in Santanyí. The hotel was gorgeous, with a luxurious bathroom, huge walk-in shower, and a beautiful on-site restaurant.

That night’s dinner was so good—we came back the next evening for round two! If you plan to eat at the hotel’s restaurant, be sure to make a reservation, even if you’re staying on-site.

Hidden Beaches & Crystal-Clear Waters

Cala des Moro

Our final day was all about chasing beaches, particularly the famous Cala des Moro and Cala s’Almunia. These beaches are stunning, but be warned—they’re a bit of a mission to reach. You’ll need to:

  • Park in a residential area
  • Hike a rocky trail (wear real shoes, not sandals!)
  • Optionally descend 100+ steps

🛏 Where We Stayed:

  • Old Town Palma: 12th-century palace turned boutique hotel
  • Serra de Tramuntana: Sanctuary-style stay with lavender fields
  • Santanyí (South Mallorca): Boutique hotel in a historic mansion

🍴 Must-Try Eats:

  • El Camino in Palma
  • Seafood dinners at local beach restaurants
  • Singular – Michelin-starred dining in Tramuntana
  • Fresh pastries and coffee in Deià or Valldemossa
